Sean McMorrow sea fishing event hosted for Killinarden Angling Initiative in Wicklow,
Inland Fisheries Ireland’s Dublin Angling Initiati ve hosted a sea fishing event recently on Arklow`s South Beach in Co. Wicklow.
The Sean McMorrow Memorial Sea Fishing Day, which was aimed at furthering the skills of sea fishing was attended by 24 youths from the Killinarden Angling Initiative and run on the day by the Wicklow-based project, Fishing Futures.
Inland Fisheries Ireland’s Dublin Angling Initiative aims to promote, develop and improve angling in the Greater Dublin Area through educational fishing courses for young people. This event was one of several being hosted by Inland Fisheries Ireland over the summer months.
The Sean McMorrow Memorial Sea Fishing Day was held in memory of Sean McMorrow, a former General Manager of Inland Fisheries Ireland and this event was kindly supported by his family.
Fishing was steady throughout the day with some good size fish landed including flounder, plaice, dogfish and bass! The young anglers also enjoyed a provided lunch at the venue. Participants were tutored in casting, bait presentation, types of bait and the safe handling and return of fish.
